I really like this article. The sense of smell is so under valued and so under researched it is fantastic to see people of authority with a valued opinion speak of the benefits. I really love how a smell can instantly take you back to an idle memory and emotional state.
Did you know scents also have other health applications? For example AromaJet (they are a big player in the commercial applications of smell o vision) has developed technology to allow easy identification of dementing brain disorders, including Alzheimer disease, Huntington’s, and Parkinson’s. The technology works by detecting the olfactory deficits associated to particular diseases. SMT, the Sniff Magnitude test and UPSIT, the University of Pennsylvania Smell Identification Test are the most popular tests used for the early diagnosis for Parkinson’s disease.
The speed of a patient’s recovery can also be accelerated through the use of smells; similar to have this article speaks about educing relaxed and receptive states it has been shown that positive emotion and a stress free environment are optimal environments for recovery.

Sorry for missing that word.
